Petite two seater settee likely designed by British architect Eric Lyons and produced by Tecta in the 1950s.
Part of a three piece suite. Matching pair of armchairs also available.
Frame in good condition, some surface wear and tear commensurate with age.
Newly upholstered in a 70% Viscose 30% Linen mix.
Lyons was one of a range of designers working with Tecta from the mid 1940s to create furniture that made use of laminated frames - layers of beech tightly bonded together and then moulded. This process kept material costs low without compromising creativity of form or strength of structure.
As an architect Lyons was a postwar pioneer of Modernism who worked under Walter Gropius and went on to create Span Developments which are now considered part of the UK's historic architectural environment.
