Eric Lyons Bentwood Sofa

£1,400.00

Petite two seater sofa designed by British architect Eric Lyons and likely produced in the late 1940s.

Part of a three piece suite. Matching pair of armchairs also available.

Frame in good condition, some surface wear and tear commensurate with age.

Newly upholstered in a 70% Viscose 30% Linen mix.

Eric Lyons designed a range of postwar furniture to be made in laminated plywood, keeping material costs low without compromising creativity of form. It is increasingly rare to find these small sofas in particular.

Lyons was a postwar pioneer of Modernism who worked under Walter Gropius and went on to create Span Developments which are now considered part of the UK's historic architectural environment.
